My parents were always really big Pearl Jam fans, especially my dad. If I had to choose a favorite grunge band it would be Pearl Jam. I love the sound of the guitar in their songs and Eddie Vedder's voice is absolutely spectacular. We're always listening to Pearl Jam Radio on XM radio.

9. INXS
I first fell in love with INXS when my family started watching the show Rockstar: INXS; on the show they had people audition to try and become the next singer for INXS. I don't like the guy they chose and haven't really listened to any of the stuff they've recorded with him, but that show made me listen to INXS. I had my parents make me a CD with a bunch of their favorite songs and it was the only thing I listened to for the majority of my 3rd grade year. INXS also made me listen to 80s rock music, so they were really the beginning of my obsession with music.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
5. "New Sensation"
4. "Heaven Sent"
3. "Original Sin"
2. "Shine Like It Does"
1. "Beautiful Girl"

8. The Killers
I heard The Killers a lot listening to X96 as a kid and when we got Rock Band they were on there, too. I grew up hearing their songs and never quite got over them. I also had a little crush on Brandon Flowers which added to the appeal of their love songs. They were always able to make me happier; I remember one day I was crying, like sobbing- I can't remember the reason why- and then "Mr. Brightside" came on and it made me smile a little and sing along. The Killers have always been there for me, throughout every moment of my life: schoolgirl crushes, late nights doing homework, family road trips, and so much more.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
5. "Romeo and Juliet"
4. "Uncle Johnny"
3. "Somebody Told Me"
2. "When You Were Young"
1. "Dustland Fairytale"

7. Red Hot Chili Peppers
If you have read my post about "By The Way", then you know that I grew up listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers. My parents were constantly playing them, then my older brother grew to be obsessed, and now my younger brother is into them; it's a right of passage in my family to listen to music and RHCP was one of main bands our parents encouraged us to get into. When Stadium Arcadium first came out we would listen to that album in the car over and over again. When I first got my iPod Nano I discovered my favorite album: One Hot Minute. It was so good and "Aeroplane" quickly became my jam. Red Hot Chili Peppers have helped me grow up in a way, and that's something I'm very grateful for.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
5. "Tell Me Baby"
4. "Under The Bridge"
3. "Snow (Hey Oh)"
2. "Aeroplane"

6. Panic! At The Disco
When I was younger, I used to get Panic, MCR, and Fall Out Boy all confused with each other- I have no idea why. When I later figured out who was who, I realized that almost all of my favorite songs out of the three of them were by Panic! At The Disco. I have seen them in concert twice now, and am absolutely obsessed with them. Brendon Urie is one of my favorite singers and Dallon Weekes is simply spectacular. They make such amazing music and have made me into the pop punk lover I am today.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
5. "Nails For Breakfast, Tacks For Snacks"
4. "Let's Kill Tonight"
3. "When the Day Met the Night"
2. "There's a Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet"

5. New Politics
I first heard New Politics on AltNation a few years ago and since then they have just burrowed themselves further and further into my heart. They have brought me so much happiness, and when I got to see them for the first time on the Everywhere I Go Tour I was an emotional mess; I cried between five and twenty times throughout the night. That night was one of the best of my life. When I hear their music I get filled with so much emotion; the way all of the elements work together to create such amazing music is absolute perfection. I have met Louis and David, but I have yet to meet Soren- it is on my bucket list. I hope that I can possibly get an interview with them or just have the opportunity to talk to them one on one. They have inspired me and made me want to follow my dreams.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
5. "Give Me Hope"
4. "Dignity"
3. "Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)"
2. "Stuck On You"
1. "Fall Into These Arms"

4. Morrissey/The Smiths
I couldn't just put one, but I didn't feel it was fair to put them separately; Morrissey is, in my opinion, one of the greatest musicians of all time. The Smiths are so completely underrated in the mainstream music community, but they have a cult following. I think that "How Soon Is Now?" is a sort of anthem for the alternative rock movement of the 80s. Without them I don't think we'd have a lot of the music we do today.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
5. "In The Future When All Is Well" (Morrissey)
4. "How Soon Is Now?"(The Smiths)
3. "Girlfriend In a Coma"(The Smiths)
2. "Redondo Beach" (Morrissey)
1. "Panic" (The Smiths)
3. Green Day
Green Day is another band that my parents were constantly playing when I was little. I remember that whenever "When September Ends" would come on I'd always tell someone "Well he's gonna miss my birthday" or something along those lines; it was really a dumb thing looking back, but I gained amusement from it. There is no way that my taste of music would be what it is now without Green Day. They were my second concert, and my little brother's first. He ended up getting to go on stage with the band during "East Jesus Nowhere" to be 'sacrificed to the church of Green Day'. This is a band that I know I am always going to love and no matter what they will always have a special place in my heart.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
(This was my hardest list to narrow down)
5. "Macy's Day Parade"
4. "Whatsername"
3. "Last of the American Girls"
2. "She's a Rebel"
1. "Warning"
Green Day's Website
2. Depeche Mode
Without Depeche Mode, my brothers and I would literally not exist. My parents met at Rose Bowl in 1988 when Depeche Mode performed there; they really met through a mutual friend that got my dad to give her and her friends a ride to the concert. My dad said he knew that day that he was going to marry her; Depeche Mode has always been sort of magical to me because it's what brought my parents together. My parents used to play DM when we were going to sleep and they made a point of seeing them at least once- often twice- on each tour. I have grown up with them in my life and I wouldn't be alive without them. It's crazy to me how I owe my life to a group of English musicians, but it's also extremely unique and beautiful. I like to think that music is in my genes, because without it I wouldn't be here.
Top Five Favorite Songs:
5. "Behind the Wheel"
4. "John the Revelator"
3. "Blasphemous Rumours"
2. "Somebody"
1. "Personal Jesus"

1. David Bowie
A few years ago, I found a bunch of my dad's old cassette tapes and I started listening to them. They were mostly 80s alternative and new wave, but the ones that really stood out to me were Bowie's. The first song I really fell in love with was "Space Oddity"; I listened to it over and over for weeks. "China Girl" was a song that I'd heard many time on 1st Wave on XM, but each time I heard the song it only sounded better. My all time favorite album is probably Let's Dance- at least that's what I tell people when they ask. Each one of his songs are like a gift made especially for me, and I absolutely adore that feeling.

5. "Ashes to Ashes"
4. "Ziggy Stardust"
